2014: Darlene Boyd on behalf of the Gifted Students Network
Darlene Boyd, EdD, receives the award as Director of the University of California Irvine’s Gifted Students Network (GSN) for twenty years. The GSN designs and delivers a unique residential and commuter program for gifted students recognizing that "middle and high school years are pivotal in making students aware of pathways for admission to highly competitive universities such as UCI." More than 800 students participate in specialized programming each summer. Dr. Boyd is a founding board member and past president of the American Creativity Association, serves as a board member for several educational associations and is a trustee for the Los Angeles Mirman School for the highly gifted. She has received distinguished service awards from both the California Association for the Gifted and the Orange County Council for Gifted and Talented education.
