Joyce E. Juntune has spent her professional life in the field of education.  She has taught at the elementary and middle school levels in Minnesota and California.  She was Executive Director of the National Association for Gifted Children for 10 years and the American Creativity Association for 5 years.  She is the developer and trainer for the Classroom Integrated Thinking Program.  She is currently teaching courses in creativity, gifted education, and human development at Texas A&M University and serves as the Executive Director the Institute for Applied Creativity at Texas A&M University.

Adalet Baris Gunersel, born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey, completed her Junior year in Cincinnati, OH on an AFS-Scholarship (American Field Service). She double-majored in English and German at Oberlin College, spent a year in Rio de Janeiro teaching English, studied in Munich, Germany, and taught English in Germany and Turkey. Having been raised bilingual (Turkish and English), Baris is also fluent in German and Portuguese.  She has been an international correspondent for the national Turkish newspaper, "the Republic" ("Cumhuriyet") since January 2003. She is the author of the recently published book “A Year in Rio”. 

 

Views on Creative Thinking from the College Campus

This session will discuss the findings of a survey conducted on the Texas A&M campus of student views and understandings of creativity and innovation.  Students in several classes participated in the study.  The findings have been separated by major, gender, and ethnicity.   Time will also be spent sharing information on the opportunities available for students at Texas A&M University to broaden their knowledge and experience in the areas of creativity and innovation.

  • Gain a better understanding of how college students view creativity and innovation
  • Expand their understanding of the various ways a college or university can promote creativity and innovation
